A Suitable Boy Trailer Review: Tabu, Ishaan Khattar, Tanya Maniktala promise magic

A Suitable Boy

Cast: Tabu, Ishaan Khatter, Tanya Maniktala, Rasika Dugal, and Raam Kapoor

When you finish a 1349 paged book and still crave for more, it is quite evident that there are some stories which are worth telling. Vikram Seth’s most popular book A Suitable Boy had me in awe at the age of 19 and 10 years later when Mira Nair is coming up with a mini-series of its own, it is obvious for the teenager in me to jump up and down in joy.

A Suitable Boy

The 1950’s tale of a North Indian set up, A Suitable Boy is a story of love and loss, of Mehras and Kapoors, of the Hindu Muslim and Kapoor-courtesan love affair. The trailer was as good as I hoped for it. Tanya Maniktala as Lata looks as fresh as I had read in the book. Not very sure of how well would Ishaan Khattar play the role of the feckless Maan Kapoor but judging a book just by its cover would be wrong.

A Suitable Boy

Tabu as Saeeda Bai looks as ravishing as you would expect her to be. Raam Kapoor shines on in his role of Mahesh Kapoor. All in all, the aesthetics and the aura of the trailer make you want to wait for the series to release in India as soon as possible. The series has already been released in the United Kingdom as a BBC series.

The mini-series is coming up on Netflix on October 23 and I am pretty sure it is going to be a delight to watch and will also be interesting to see how Nair is able to fit the entire 1349 pages in a series.
