When David Dhawan comes to mind, one name that immediately pops up in our heads is Govinda. They’ve done several films together, most of them starring Karisma Kapoor as the lead actress. The trio has been in the showbiz together, giving some of the most popular hits of the ’90s including the iconic Coolie no. 1 which released in 1995.
David Dhawan is coming back, 25 years later, with a remake of the Coolie no. 1 with the name ‘Coolie’. The upcoming movie will air on Amazon Prime, releasing on December 25. The movie stars Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Johny Lever, Javed Jaffrey, and others.
The trailer has already been out, and fans have not given it a good response. Well, if you ask for my opinion, the Govinda sorts comedy was something that people enjoyed in the ’90s but not anymore.
The comedy in the trailer looks a little too much, and somehow, I do not understand the addition of ensemble characters, trying to add the comic timing. And what’s with the obsession with Dubai and Burj Khalifa Bollywood peeps, get over it.
Talking about the actors, Varun Dhawan does try hard but for me, it’s just not worked. Not too much can be said about Sara Ali Khan, because in those two minutes, her shots are only of the dancing sequences.
I am definitely not the one who is looking forward to it, but I’d still like to see what these actors have in store for the audience
